During one of their clandestine excursions to a deserted island near their home, two adolescents stumble upon a fugitive (played by Matthew McConaughey) who manages to harness their help for his survival; but what the kids had not bargained for is the danger posed by miscreants who have been trying to track him down and kill him for a deed that he had committed for which even the law is looking for him. Is he really guilty? Can a murderer be vindicated no matter how justified the circumstances? These are some of the questions that this action-adventure film raises – which eventually is a coming-of-age story of the two kids.
Director Jeff Nichol’s indie classic MUD (2012, US) is quite a fulfilling experience, playing on Prime Video.
